What is Message Map? Do you have Slack channels where you and your teams post a lot of Google Maps URLs? Ever need to see all the places mentioned on a single map? Message Map allows you to pull all mentions of Google Maps URLs on to a map and view them by channel.
How do use I Message Map? To use Message Map simply log into Slack from the current page. Message Map will find all the Google Maps URLs in your workspace and post a dropdown list the of channels that refer to locations. When you select a channel Message Map will zoom to the appropriate altitude to display all the locations mentioned in channel. When you click on the locations you will see the original message, who posted it, and how long ago.
What Data is Used to Create Message Map? Message Map DOES NOT store any data. The only data used to generate the map is the channel name, the message text, and the user name and avatar of the member who posted a Google Maps reference. These elements are used only to render the map. Once you navigate away or close the browser all data used on the map is destroyed.
